Bingo Junkies

Waiting for a bingo game to start can be frustrating if you are a true Bingo junkie. Ten years ago, Hope Tedders and a few friends started their own quicky bingo games before heading to regular bingo. They became addicted. The games have evolved over the years, and they now play every Friday in the South Gulf Cove home of Pat Meyers.

"The only time we don't play on a Friday is if I have a doctor's appointment, but all of us try not to schedule them on Fridays," Meyers said with a laugh. The only other reason for not playing on Friday is if there is a funeral reception at St. Francis of Assisi, where Meyers runs the kitchen.

"In-home bingo is for those that cannot get enough of regular bingo," said Tedders. "We play at all the local bingos, and we even go on junkets. This is just another way to get in more bingo time."

The group plays poor-man's bingo, starting with $5. "If you lose that, you get to play free for the rest of the day," Meyers explained. Each game costs a nickel, but there are five games per card, so the total per card is 25 cents.

Besides getting her bingo fix, Carol Marchese likes the in-home games because "you can take off your shoes and relax."
