Bingo parlor to pay fine for violating smoking ban

Rather than fight a citation in court, Jackpot Bingo will pay a $100 fine for allowing its patrons to smoke.

Jerry Wright, attorney for Jackpot Bingo, said the bingo hall’s owners have decided to pay the fine but haven’t done so yet. The bingo hall is expected in court Sept. 21.

Jackpot Bingo was the first business cited for allowing patrons to smoke since the ban was enforced April 27.

Jackpot Bingo originally pleaded not guilty to violating the city’s controversial no-smoking ordinance. The bingo hall had argued that it rented its Eastland Shopping Center location to charities and should be exempt from the ban.
