An Allenton couple won £221,402 at Gala Bingo in Liversage Street, Derby. They both are in their fifties and hit the jackpot during a special game that links different branches of Gala Bingo from across England.

The couple plays bingo every week but usually goes to the Gala Bingo in Forester’s Leisure Park in Sinfin Lane. The husband said that on that particular night his wife asked him to go to the one in town because she felt lucky.

“I couldn't believe it when I found out we had won. I went to the toilet and when I came back my wife had her hand in the air. I thought we had won a smaller prize. When I found out we had won the national I was just in shock”, he added.

The couple has already bought a new car and they plan to spend the rest of the money on presents for their three children and eight grandchildren. They also want to go on a trip to Cyprus.
