According to a study released recently, the Spanish players spend 416 Euros in average per year playing Bingo, Slots and other Casino Games. The study was made by the Internal Affairs Ministry of Spain and is based on data collected during 2007.
The average spend in these games varies according to the region of Spain that we are looking at. In top of the chart ranks the region of Baleares with 541 Euros per person, meanwhile, Galician players were not so prone to spend their money on gambling, with only 304 Euros. Other communities with high spend rates where Madrid (534 Euros), Aragon (542 Euros) and Canarias (513 Euros).
This study also revealed that in the last five years, the games which are managed by private hands had an increase of 16.75%, meanwhile, the games which experimented the biggest increase where those managed by the state through LAE (Loterias y Apuestas del Estado), which increased by 20.42%, on the other hand, the games offered by ONCE (a charity organization for blind people) had a decrease of 5.83%.
Visits to casinos have also increased, specifically by 16.26% since the beginning of the 90’s and until now, according to the data analyzed by the Ministry, the last annual increase was registered between 2006 and 2007 and represented a 4%, which corresponds to 148,707 more visits. Even though, the study highlights that “more that visitors, we should consider casino visits, since there are many regular players who visit these game rooms frequently. The evolution of visits should be, theoretically, closely related to the incomes generated by the tickets, but this relation has been shifted mainly for commercial issues: free tickets, season tickets or promotions made by the casinos”.
